About six years ago, Lauren was diagnosed with a chronic autoimmune disorder – Inflammatory Bowel Disease. In the medical tradition, there is no reason, rhyme or cure, and harsh steroids and/or surgeries are the standard form of treatment. Since the diagnosis, Lauren has been on a winding path of healing – as naturally as she could.

Lauren’s career path at the time was in Advertising. It was a 10 year affair with deadlines, pressure and obviously stress. “In my last few years in Advertising I wasn’t able to manage the stress as well as I used to, especially when we were really put under the pump with tight deadlines, working weekends or till early hours of the morning.” Lauren ended up with Adrenal Fatigue, and yet another nasty autoimmune condition – Interstitial Cystitis – a chronic and very painful inflammation of the bladder and urethra.

This was a wake up call and sent Lauren on a quest to heal. She tried all kinds of alternative therapies, and worked with many, many healers. “I tried Chinese Herbalism, Western Herbalism, Acupuncture, Energy Healing, Rife Therapy, Intravenous Vitamin C and Mineral Therapy, Bowen Therapy, and some truly radical diets, raw foods, medically supervised fasting (to name but a few).”

The realisation for Lauren was that in order to heal she had to remove the biggest stressor in her life – her work. Time for a career change that would both fulfil her true purpose and enable her the space to really heal. It was a huge weight off her shoulders to walk away from her Advertising career. Lauren took the opportunity to travel and complete intensive Raw Foods training in Bali. She then went on to become a certified Holistic Health and Wellness Coach, and complete an apprenticeship in Shamanic Herbal.

Today amongst creating and sharing her beautiful recipes on Ascension Kitchen and her TWO AMAZING APPS!!!… Lauren is studying full time to complete a degree in Natural Medicine. “I love, love, love every second of it.”

Lauren is an true inspiration and has made a loving commitment to go back to basics (and nature!) To step out of the fast lane and be guided by her true intuition. It is this fresh approach to life that has taught her so much.
